Hello all, my name is Allen Walker my content area is history with a secondary level certification, and I will be student teaching 11th grade U.S. History this fall semester. I have been placed at Wall High School for this fall 2013 semester, which I am very excited about. Beyond graduation, I hope to teach at a smaller school district to start off at but not too sure where just yet.

Their are many expectations and roles as a teacher. The three most important roles in my personal opinion of a teacher is educator, protector, and mentor. Educator obviously due to the fact that this is the man job as a teacher. Teachers have been trained to bring knowledge to students and show and developed the tools and skill for students to do so. Protector for the reasons of you as a teacher are responsible for your students while they are at school. The role of protecting students have came about very frequently in the past year but it is true teachers are protectors for their students. Mentor due to in many cases students look up to their teachers as an adult figure for questions and problem outside of school related issues. It is important for teachers to uphold themselves to a higher standard for their students in order for them to be a mentor or adult figure outside of the home setting.

  1. First of all, HOOK'EM HORNS... I had to get the important stuff done. Secondly, I agree with your three points. Being a mentor is so important to a student. I still remember mine, and they taught me so much more about life that just what was expected in the classroom. Good luck this semester!

  2. I also agree that education is the most important thing, because that is what students are expecting from a teacher. I mentioned that students might come to the teacher for guidance or encouragement in my blogg. Teachers are responsible to give the student help about things not related to the classroom.

  4. Not a big longhorns fan man but I agree with what you said. I also wrote that I believe that one of the responsibilities of the teacher is to help guide the students. The teacher should be a mentor.
